WHY SHOULD YOU CONSIDER A CAREER IN ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY OR AUTOMATION TECHNOLOGY?
  • The opportunities for a successful and rewarding career are endless in the areas of robotics, automation, engineering, design, and innovation. Companies are looking to employ individuals with knowledge and skills ready to work in this field, but they also support individuals who want to continue to learn and advance in this career field by offering college tuition-reimbursement programs.
  • Indiana manufacturing companies reported serious to moderate shortages of qualified workers in 2019. The most critical shortages were for skilled (62%) and unskilled (31%) production workers. Forty-five percent also reported moderate shortages for production support personnel as well as scientists and design engineers.
  • These two new programs will be taught by a Purdue University instructor  through a joint-partnership between Purdue, Ivy Tech-Muncie Campus, and Muncie Community Schools.
  • Students will learn through direct instruction, project-based and problem-based learning, and through work-based learning experiences with Magna Powertrain and Mursix Corporation.
  • The first-year course will be a one-hour course offered at Muncie Central High School; the second-year course will be a three-credit hour course that includes internship days at Magna or Mursix with alternating classroom/lab instruction at Madjax, Muncie Central, and the company worksite.
