 Adult Education program information

Our FREE classes can assist you to do the following: 

  • Pass the High School Equivalency exam (formerly known as GED)
  • Complete credits to earn your High School diploma
  • Improve skills in areas that are important to you
  • Improve your English skills in speaking, reading, and writing
  • Prepare you for a career in Early Childhoood Education - Learn more here!
  • Attain industry-recognized employment certifications

Classes are offered at various times at the following locations: 

  • Muncie Area Career Center (4301 S. Cowan Rd. Muncie)
  • Northside Middle School (2400 W. Bethel, Muncie)
  • Randolph Center for Family Opportunity (325 S. Oak St. Winchester)
  • Hartford City Public Library (314 N. High St. Hartford City)

Limited Vouchers Available for Free HSE Testing! A $144 Value!
We have vouchers available to cover the costs of the HiSET (HSE/GED) exam this fall. In order to be eligible, you must be enrolled in adult education classes for at least 12 hours and pass a readiness exam. 

Who Is Eligible for Adult Education Classes? 

Adult education classes are only available to individuals who are:

  • At least sixteen years of age (under 18 must have an IDOE Exit Interview on file);
  • Not enrolled in or required by state law to be enrolled in high school;
  • Deficient in basic skills, including those who do not have a high school diploma or high school equivalency diploma, or are English Language Learners

Adult learners who are eligible to participate in adult education classes include must be U.S. citizens, U.S. non-citizen nationals, or individuals in certain categories of qualified aliens. In order to participate, adult learners must verify their eligibility status by providing one of the following: 

  1. U.S. Birth Certificate
  2. REAL ID compliant identification card (such as a driver’s license)
  3. DHS-issued documentation verifying immigration status as a qualified alien
  4. Documentation from DHS Systemic Alien Verification of Entitlements (SAVE) program

Adult Education Transcripts

Transcript and Diplomas for Adult Education students are requested through the MACC during regular business hours. Please note that the MACC office is closed during holidays, spring, summer and fall breaks.
